CHECK INFRA IN QUAKE AFFECTED AREAS - REVILLA

Senate Public Works Committee Chairman Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. instructed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to immediately deploy personnel to inspect infrastructure in General Santos City and other parts of Southern Mindanao hit by the magnitude 6.8 earthquake Friday afternoon.

The undersea tectonic quake occurred at a depth of 72 kilometers and 34 km northwest of Sarangani Island in Davao Occidental at around 4:14 p.m.

"While there are only minor damage apparent now, it is important to ensure that no structural damage were sustained by buildings and bridges," Revilla explained. "Kaya nga agad nating inatasan ang DPWH na siguruhing ligtas ang mga struktura," he added.

The lawmaker has urged the DPWH to conduct a continuous assessment of vital public infrastructure throughout the country to assure the public's safety.

INATASAN ni Senate Public Works Committee Chairman Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na agad na magpadala ng kanilang tauhan upang inspeksiyonin at matiyak na ligtas ang mga imprastrakura sa General Santos City at iba pang bahagi ng Southern Mindanao na tinamaan ng magnitude 6.8 eathquake noong Biyernes ng hapon.

Ang undersea tectonic quake ay naganap sa lalim na 72 kilometers at 34 km sa hilagang kanluran ng Sarangani Island sa Davao Occidental, bandang alas 4:14 ng hapon.

"While there are only minor damage apparent now, it is important to ensure that no structural damage were sustained by buildings and bridges, kaya nga agad nating inatasan ang DPWH na siguruhing ligtas ang mga struktura," paliwanag ni Revilla.

Iginiit din ng mambabatas na magsagawa ng tuluy-tuloy na pagtatasa o assessment sa lahat ng mahahalagang pampublikong imprastraktura sa buong bahagi ng bansa upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng publiko.
